Funny cricket team names

Funny works when everyone on the team has lived the joke. A few that tend to get a laugh before the first ball:

A good test is whether you can say the name out loud to a stranger and they smile. If it needs a paragraph of explanation, it belongs in the group chat and nowhere else.

Names for office and college teams

Corporate box cricket has its own spirit. Teams here often want a name that fits on a scoreboard and survives an email to HR.

Names built around a year, a ground or a person

Naming the team after the one person who owns the only proper bat also works. Everyone knows who decides the rules.

How to pick one without a fight

• Shortlist three names and ask each player to vote once. Anything with a single loud champion gets dropped.
• Say it as a scoreboard line: 'Gali No. 7 Strikers 84 for 3'. If it reads well there, it works.
• Keep it under four words so it fits on the back of a T-shirt without shrinking.
• Avoid borrowing the name of any professional side. Your own lane has more character, and nobody else has it.
• Check that the youngest player and the oldest uncle both find it funny. That is the real vote.
